1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
We assume not many people have heard about us as it’s our first release. It’s over two years since we have started to form Loathfinder and work on material which you can hear on “The Great Tired Ones”.
2.So far you have released an ep, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?
We did our best to make the EP sound massive and crushing in a way how we understand it. We see it as silty and gloomy piece with a hint of melody. Modern sound rooted in oldschool, heavy and dense with no high tempo. There is an additional factor which has a significant impact on overall sound of the album and it’s called Satanic Audio as Haldor took care of mix and mastering and the final result is exactly what we wanted to achieve.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
Using only couple of words, it’s mostly about exploring parts of existence that mankind are denying and can’t cope with. And it’s not related to day-to-day life as much as most of listeners would say.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Loathfinder'?
To find and to loathe what you’ve found. It’s someone who sees futility and all of failed cycles.
Inspiration came from same place as lyrics, we would say it’s quintessence of them.
Disgusting, incomprehensible and weirdest corners of universe, with a spark of black magic.
5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
There is not much to say about it so far as we haven’t played as Loathfinder any live shows yet. Right now we are in the process of preparing “The Great Tired Ones” to present to wider audience. We spend a lot of time in our rehearsal room but not only on playing but also on analyzing, discussing and improving different aspects; for instance we have some ideas for visualisations which we would like to use as an integral part of our gigs, even if not now then maybe in the nearest future.
6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
We don’t plan a tour at this moment but there are some single gigs already scheduled. The first one we will play at Southern Discomfort in Krakow at the beginning of May. All information about all future performances will be published on our Facebook site.
7.The ep was released on 'Godz Ov War Productions', are you happy with the support that they have given yo so far?
Obviously it’s hard to be heard by people outside the local scene without a proper support from music label especially in these days when so massive amount of music is being released every day- it’s really challenging to stand out. Greg from Godz Ov War is a real metal maniac and we appreciate his commitment and promotional activities done for us. Without that and his personal network it would be much harder (or sometimes even not possible probably) to make people aware of Loathfinder. Long story short - yes, we are more than satisfied with current cooperation.
8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black and doom metal?
We are not focused on fans of specific genre, like doom metal or black metal. Those are just labels which were picked in order to characterize our music, not in order to become part of any specific scene. We make music which fits to our own taste and the feedback we are getting so far is rather positive and quite promising.
9.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
Now we’re focused on promoting of this release so it’s too early to talk about full length album. We’re not even sure what will be the next - LP, another EP or maybe even split as we really like this short publishing formats. We have already started to work on new material and let’s see what future will bring.
10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
There are four of us, each different, each inspired by different sounds so list would be long but if we would need to point a few names only it would be for sure Amenra, Coffinworm, Conan, Nightslug, Pallbearer, Skitliv, Urfaust, YOB...
11.What are some of your non musical interests?
We would rather not focus on our lives beside this project but in general most of them relate to music broadly understood.
